Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern society, It is often argued that images with the news articles are more impactful than written news papers. Although both views have their merits. I believe that press with the pictures are more beneficial. My inclination is elaborated further in the ensuing paragraphs with relevant examples.
The compelling reason to justify my opinion is that the news appear more meaningful if it contains specific picture. Because of this, reader immediately get the idea about topic that what the exactly discussion is about. For instance, if paper shows the visa with the stamp of particular country or flag drawing, whosoever is reading will get the idea from the picture without start reading that this picture is discussion about something international.
Another reason to justify my stand is that it is beneficial for the people who have concentration issue. This is because, numerous people may find lengthy paragraphs is like just word jargons and more like to not focus on reading for that kind of people it is works like hook. For instance, a person who just open first page and might now have enough time to read all information can get the idea of picture like accident image how many members are there and place.
On the contrary, written article may not overlook. It is plays vital role for the avid readers who like even a small detail about incident or event. To cite an example, A test taker who may have to read background of the author from start to end.
To conclude, and offer my position. While both the perspectives have their own benefits such as written articles provide smaller details for avid reader, I believe that news with the images are more influence as it is more effective than written. Because by this, reader can read with the interest and get the idea easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that images are more effective than text. The ideas are relevant, such as the accessibility of images for readers with concentration issues and the immediate visual impact of news. However, the development is somewhat limited; the examples provided, such as the 'visa stamp' or 'accident image,' are a bit simplistic and could be expanded to better illustrate the broader societal impact of visual media. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack depth, preventing the response from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The compelling reason,' 'Another reason,' and 'On the contrary,' which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'My inclination is elaborated further in the ensuing paragraphs.' Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'avid readers' and 'compelling reason.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'word jargons,' 'news appear more meaningful,' and 'news with the images are more influence.' These errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the text, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the news,' 'the visa'), subject-verb agreement ('reader immediately get,' 'it is plays'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. While the meaning is usually clear, the high frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. Improving punctuation and ensuring consistent verb forms would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
