Student answer (Band 6.0)
News on television is the fastest way to stay up to date in today's modern world. Majority of the population believe that impeding digital pictures to the latest news can make it look better and convenient. I believe that pictures can make the news more understandable and easier for consumer to consume the content.
To commence with, if someone wants to know anything about what is going around the world the first thing people look into is news channels on their television. In addition. adding pictures to the news content makes the content more simpler and easier for the consumer to understand while saving times as well. To cite and example, if an elderly people is looking at the news they might not be able to read and listen properly at the same time because of their aging changes. However looking at the pictures can be convenient for them as it can give them a basic idea that what the news is about. Hence, pictures can be beneficial to better understand the news.
Moreover, pictures can work as an asset for news channels and marketing advertisement as it can draw people's attention easily. To add up further, pictures contain vibrant colours, text, and popular faces around the world. For example, if someone is looking at the news and the advertisement is displayed in between , the viewer's eyes will automatically focus on the product being advertised and can also educate themselves about the product and will eventually be convinced to buy certain product. consequently, this will contribute to the sales of the product. Thus pictures can put great impact on the people in contrast to words.
iIn conclusion, as the world has become so advanced using new techniques of presenting news to people such as inserting pictures etc, can even work greater than words.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that pictures are more effective than words. You provide relevant reasons, such as accessibility for the elderly and the persuasive power of visual marketing. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The second paragraph focuses on the elderly, which is a good point, but the third paragraph shifts focus toward marketing and advertisements, which is only tangentially related to the core topic of 'news stories'. To improve, ensure all supporting arguments directly reinforce why pictures are more effective than words in the context of news reporting specifically, rather than general advertising.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'In addition', and 'Consequently' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'To add up further' and 'In contrast to words' at the end of the third paragraph, which feels a bit abrupt. Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error in the second paragraph where a period is used instead of a comma ('In addition. adding...'). Improving the variety and natural flow of these linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'impeding' (though this is likely a misuse of 'incorporating' or 'adding'), 'vibrant', and 'convenient'. There are some instances of awkward word choice, such as 'impeding digital pictures' and 'more simpler' (a double comparative). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. To reach a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding redundant phrasing like 'more simpler'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'Majority of the population' (missing an article), 'more simpler' (incorrect comparative form), 'an elderly people' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'iIn' (capitalization error). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and avoiding double comparatives. Proofreading for minor slips like the capitalization error at the start of the conclusion is also recommended.
