Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, News highlights on the television channels and print media are mostly published with graphics and pictorial evidence. Many people claim that these pictures and illustrations have more worth than article written. I strongly agree to this statement and will discuss reasons along with examples in this essay.
After the advancement in technology particularly internet, social media and smart phones, it has been very common that means of information have been changed and constantly evolving. This change has affected our perception levels as well. For instance, a video of an incident will have more worth than article written about the same happening. The video will have more views than number of reads on a news article. Moreover, the internet has made whole world a global village. Any Incident or news in far away regions is available within a couple of minutes on the internet for residents of various countries.
Secondly, pictures and graphics have an enormous psychological impact as well. As they say, seeing is believing. We will believe more in a news story or an article if we have visualized the story ourselves. For instance, The news about a marriage ceremony in the royal family of the United Kingdom will be more interesting and persuasive if it has been posted with the pictures or videos of the event.
In light of the above discussion, it has been established that publishing of videos or pictures of any incident is more likely to get better attention than mere article or a news telecast.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing reasons. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that pictures have 'psychological impact' and provide the example of a royal wedding, the explanation remains quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more depth or specific analysis. For instance, you could discuss how images transcend language barriers or how they can be manipulated to mislead, which would provide a more balanced and sophisticated exploration of the topic. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and essentially repeats the introduction rather than synthesising the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Secondly', and 'For instance' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the impact of technology and the 'global village' concept is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'article written' which lacks a determiner. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pictorial evidence', 'persuasive', and 'global village'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'article written' instead of 'written articles' and 'publishing of videos' instead of 'the publication of videos'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range to include more academic or topic-specific vocabulary would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the internet', 'the whole world') and pluralisation ('means of information have been changed'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'the internet has made whole world a global village'. There are also minor punctuation issues. To improve, focus on the correct use of articles and ensure that your subject-verb agreement is consistent. While your complex sentences are understandable, they often contain small errors that prevent the writing from being considered fully accurate.
