Student answer (Band 6.0)
A thought of using photographs in newspapers and news channels has become debatable in the past few months as this action has drawn some people's attention. Using pictures can help people to get overall information. Therefore I firmly believe the given statement and reasons for my belief will be discussed further with suitable examples.
Out of all the reasons, the first one is clear information. News with pictures have details and proper information with proof as words can not describe the overall situation. For instance, News about missing persons with his or her photographs and personal details can make searching more easy and fast as surrounding people and news viewers can also help to in find out specific person. In addition to this, using pictures in news stories has more efficient way of delivering right information to the public.
Moreover, photos and videos on news media make it more interesting as it provides proof and evidence. News with words only make readers feel bored. Most of the newspapers readers only read headlines and dont want to go through detailed information as writings are often very small. Furthermore, news applications in mobile phones have made people forget about reading newspapers. News applications such as Times of india, News24 and many others have made our lives easier then before because it provides live coverage through the areas of crime or incidents.
To conclude the above discussion, I tend to think that pictorial content make people watch news stories every day. This gives accurate information through live news straight to the public. Therefore, pictures play vital role in news media reporting.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed the prompt by clearly stating your position that pictures are more effective than words. You provided relevant reasons, such as the clarity of information and the engagement factor. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that pictures provide 'proof,' you could have expanded on why visual evidence is more persuasive than written descriptions in the context of modern media consumption. The response is relevant throughout, but some points, such as the mention of specific news apps, feel slightly tangential to the core argument about the effectiveness of images versus words. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph focuses strictly on supporting your central thesis with deeper analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother; for example, the transition from discussing missing persons to the efficiency of information delivery is a bit abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly rather than relying on simple additive transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'live coverage' and 'pictorial content.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'make searching more easy' (should be 'easier') and 'through the areas of crime' (should be 'from the scenes of crime'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and avoid repeating basic words like 'information' and 'news' too frequently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, though the range is somewhat limited. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'News with pictures have' (subject-verb agreement error; should be 'has'), 'make searching more easy' (should be 'easier'), and 'easier then before' (should be 'than'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor issues with article usage and pluralization. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and comparative structures will help improve your accuracy.
