Student answer (Band 5.0)

In modern era the tv and newspapers used the pictures to attract the audience. They want all new stories because they went all to get more pictures of that however the people see this and never gets old by a tv and newspapers.

In other opinions they really say that the if the subtitle are not their then the picture is enough to understand without words are written or said. However, peoples like to see rather than to read the information because that would give them happiness and sadness. Thus, they all wanted to see pictures in their free time whether it's bad or good it's all depends on the persons mentality. They all wanted to cool down their heads because they don't want to burst their minds with tensions and with pressure of the world by people which they gave to everyone.

In my opinions they should post the pictures on the TV and on newspapers, but they want clarity what they should post on that. They all wanted a team however, their every post check by that team officer before the posting because some channels promote bad images thus, that the important thing to in my perspective that they all didn't post the bad images that would cause to destroy the minds of younger generation and didn't want to get them grow because if mind is developed by bad images that destroy their goods thoughts.

I have a great reason for that because if they can't alter their posting about bad they would destroy all the generation if that is younger or old so stop that.

I have a good example about anime because if the subtitle is not their the people would understand properly like for example demon slayer because of that emotion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of pictures versus words. However, the development of ideas is often unclear and lacks logical depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'bad images' and the 'younger generation' is somewhat tangential to the core debate about the effectiveness of visual communication. The position is present but not consistently maintained or clearly articulated throughout the essay. The ideas are generally under-developed, and the connection between the examples provided (such as anime) and the broader topic is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's line of reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is frequently disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and often incorrect manner, such as the repetitive use of 'they all wanted' and 'however'. Referencing is frequently unclear; for example, it is often difficult to identify who 'they' refers to in various sentences. While there is an attempt to use transition words, they do not always logically connect the sentences or ideas, which disrupts the flow of the argument and makes the overall structure feel fragmented.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'good', 'bad', 'pictures', and 'things'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'burst their minds with tensions' and 'destroy their goods thoughts'. These inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended meaning. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or nuances, and the lack of variety in word choice prevents the essay from achieving a higher score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the tv and newspapers used the pictures'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are almost always faulty, leading to confusion. The control of grammar is weak, and the high frequency of errors is a significant barrier to clarity throughout the text.
