Student answer (Band 5.5)

the reports of events on screen and on paper are frequently published by visuals, for pictures are somehow imprinted on people minds. news either on TV or in newspaper assist people in getting knowledge about events in our surroundings. in this essay,i will discuss the importance of pictures accompanying the news before giving my opinion.

pictures are more effective than words in a way because in our society the news forecasters just publish any news without even having logical evidences with them.so now it's the need of era to have pictures as a proof with them so that our mind can easily process them. in instance, nowadays the ratio of robbery is increasing incredibly and individuals don't believe the news as they have been casting false news for years so if they publish the news with puictures or videos people can easily believe them comparatively.

psychologioca;lly, people are attracted more towards visuals than words.in this modern age, mindsets have changed.today's generation cannot easily believe on whatever they listen, they need objecvtive evidences. so they like to read news publishewd with pictures or prone to watch news articles accompanied by visuals.for bexample, there's a friend of mine.he doesn't like to read books but he has watched every series of every book just because he is infatuated towards watching movies than reading books.

in my opinion, news reportas should be published in an interesting way so that people start to take interest in the news and become well aware of the events tskling place in our society on daily basis. for example,i was a person who was completely unaware of events happening on loiical, nationa;l and international level.i took interest just when i was surfing tyhrugh the channels and somehow i stopped at the news channel where there wqere a few picture of peoplew who died bny police encounter as tyhey were the rapist. i was quiet haapy to see such innovations ha

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of pictures in news. However, the development is inconsistent. While you provide reasons for your opinion, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the claim that news forecasters publish news without evidence is a broad generalization that weakens the argument. The conclusion is incomplete, as the final sentence cuts off abruptly, leaving the position under-developed. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-supported point and provide a clear, finished conclusion that summarizes your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'in instance' (which is non-standard) and 'psychologically', but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a complete final sentence disrupts the overall progression of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your logic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent spelling errors such as 'puictures', 'psychologioca;lly', 'objecvtive', and 'publishewd', which distract the reader. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'getting knowledge' instead of 'gaining information' or 'casting false news' instead of 'reporting inaccurate information'. To reach a higher band, focus on learning word families and common collocations, and proofread carefully to eliminate simple spelling mistakes that occur throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'pictures are... imprinted on people minds'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and missing spaces after commas. The sentence structure is often repetitive. To improve, practice using a wider range of complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like article usage and sentence boundaries.
