Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, readers and viewers in different part the worlds are getting bored and having lack of interest regarding the news that they see and watch. Different TV channel and newspaper approach their audience and consumer by adding pictures on their news.

I strongly believe that adding photo or video on their content can enhance the understanding on their specific topic. First, the audience can understand much better if the broadcasting company insert some videos on the news they wanted to present on their audience furthermore adding photo on the newspaper can also easily understand by reader. For example, not all audience can understand what thameu are seeing and reading, it is much better if individuals see some photo or videos that will make their understanding much easily. Secondly, it can make their consumer attracted and not be bored to their flatform. For example, viewers and readers will appreciate more what they watch on the braodcasting channel and read on the tabloid. Last, individuals watching or reading the news can be more happier and excited if they see something moving or posting on the backround. In an instance, children can be more cheerful and fond on watching news and reading newspapers as their hobbies.

In the future, I hope news around the world can think on various ways on how they can be more attractive and appealling to there different viewers and readers. News must be only focus on truth and nothing else. Also, they must give fair enough ssonthat their audience will not be mislead regarding the truth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that pictures enhance news content. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you provide reasons such as 'understanding' and 'attraction', the supporting examples are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the example regarding children is vague and does not fully illustrate how visuals specifically improve news consumption. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, real-world examples and ensure that your arguments are fully extended rather than just stated. The conclusion introduces new, slightly off-topic points about truth and fairness, which detracts from the focus on the effectiveness of visuals.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. You use basic connectors like 'First', 'Secondly', and 'Last', which makes the flow feel mechanical. There are also issues with referencing; for example, the phrase 'not all audience can understand what thameu are seeing' is unclear, and the connection between sentences is sometimes weak. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence builds clearly upon the previous one, rather than simply listing points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and spelling errors, such as 'flatform' (platform), 'braodcasting' (broadcasting), 'ssonthat' (so that), and 'backround' (background). You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary like 'understand', 'news', and 'pictures'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations, such as 'visual aids', 'multimedia content', or 'engaging', and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Different TV channel... approach'), article usage (e.g., 'in different part the worlds'), and prepositional errors. Many sentences are structurally awkward, such as 'adding photo on the newspaper can also easily understand by reader'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses.
