Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no shadow of doubt that, nowadays images or pictures are mainly used in the news stories that we watch on TV as well as in newspaper. Considering this, some of the individual said that pictures are more effective rather than words. I will discussed this approach and also my point of view in upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, the view why people say that these images are more effective than words owing to some reasons as images or pictures are visual and grab the attention. To elaborate it, as they easily come in the notes due to art or creativity and people start thinking or show their interest by making estimation about matter instead of reading. For example, Times of India did a survey last in order know about public response regarding their newspaper, they found that people show their interest in pages or column where they explain the issues with pictures or images. Therefore they holding this viewpoint.

Moving further toward my viewpoint that, I believe that its also about their interest as if they read a story without images they find it boring. And also everybody have a hectic schedule owing to this they prefer to know the fact or overall pattern instead of reading . with the help images we can easily took a hint or also maintain are interest toward the story. So, images or pictures attain more attention then words.

Overall, individual believe that images are more effective than words owing to reason such as grab attention, art and craft. And i also believe that these are interesting as well as give overview about matter.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of images versus words in news. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that images 'grab attention' and are 'creative,' the explanation remains superficial. The example provided regarding the 'Times of India' is relevant but lacks sufficient detail to fully support your argument. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced reasoning, perhaps discussing how images can convey emotional impact or complex information more quickly than text, and provide a more detailed, concrete example to illustrate your point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moving further,' and 'Overall.' However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition 'Moving further toward my viewpoint that, I believe...' is clunky. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'they' in 'Therefore they holding this viewpoint,' where the antecedent is not explicitly defined. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help the progression of ideas feel more seamless.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'images or pictures' and 'effective,' throughout the essay. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'making estimation about matter' instead of 'forming an opinion about the subject' and 'took a hint' instead of 'grasp the main idea.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to media and communication to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('some of the individual said'), tense inconsistencies ('I will discussed'), and missing articles or incorrect prepositions ('in newspaper' instead of 'in newspapers'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses would significantly improve your score.
