Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this contemporary era, newspapers and television usually used photographs to make their content attractive which makes the debatable topic. Some individuals believe that agencies should focus on the theoritical information rather than pictures while others controvert the same. In my opinion, words and pictures, both plays vital role to design the advertisement or news.
Consequently, pictures help to rise the demand of the advertisement product. By the influence of eye catching feature of the photographs, new consumers are ready to buy that product. For example, automobiles companies advertise their vehicle by showing the large image of their car in their advertisement. Ergo, first time buyers are easily attract towards that product without analysis its pros and cons.
However, detailed information is also important to analyse and understand that update. Words are the only way to explain the situation in the specific image. Otherwise, numerous people assume that news according to their own view. For instance, if the newspapers only print the photograph of the incident then it is so hard to get the real story behind that photo. Resultantly, there is chance of spreading the false news in the society.
To conclude, although, pictures are simplest way to provide information about the scene or commodity, people also need to be facilitate by the exact story about the thing which are marketing or published by the agencies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of pictures versus words in media. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the position is clear, the arguments are somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about automobile advertisements is relevant but lacks a more nuanced exploration of how images and text interact to inform the public. Because the response is under-length, it fails to fully develop the ideas, resulting in a lower score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Consequently', 'However', and 'To conclude' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Ergo' used in the second paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the lack of length prevents a more sophisticated flow of arguments. Referencing is mostly clear, though the connection between the paragraphs could be strengthened to improve the overall cohesion of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward word choice or incorrect collocations, such as 'controvert the same' (instead of 'disagree'), 'rise the demand' (instead of 'increase'), and 'be facilitate by' (instead of 'be provided with'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary limits the score. The student relies on basic terminology, which is sufficient for communication but does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'newspapers and television usually used' (tense error), 'both plays vital role' (subject-verb agreement), and 'without analysis its pros and cons' (incorrect word form). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar structures is noticeable. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur often enough to affect the overall quality of the writing.
