Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the advancement in the technology the representation of news in front of public changed a lot as nowadays news either on TV or in newspaper come along with the images which are either self explained or makes the news much more clearer to the audience which only words can not justify. I am totally agree with the people who are in the favour.
The photos make any person to at least predict about the news what the conveyor wants to deliver without any barrier. For example, if the person does not the language then the images are certain sources to be closure to the news which the reporter have gather either from any of his resource or collected by his own. Moreover, the images bring the attention of the listener and build their interest to read or watch the news. To illustrate, one see the image of some new invention only then he will read it in details otherwise, he has higher chances to skip that important news.
One cannot ignore that pictures occupy a lot of space in newspaper and TV because of that many news can not be printed as their no space left for those. To exemplify, the size of the newspaper will remain same but news a lot so editor can only accommodate the important news inside it.
In my opinion, the image should be there with only very important news so that maximum number of news can be delivered to the viewers.
In conclusion, images tagged to the news are the medium to attract the audience irrespective to the any restriction and also generate the interest but one needs to sacrifice some news which might be helpful for him.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion on the effectiveness of pictures in news. You have provided relevant arguments regarding accessibility for non-native speakers and the ability to capture audience interest. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the counter-argument regarding space constraints in newspapers is relevant but could have been more deeply explored to better balance the discussion. While you maintain a position throughout, the conclusion introduces a slight shift in focus by suggesting a compromise, which is acceptable but could be more clearly linked to your main argument. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a mid-range band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'For example', 'Moreover', and 'To illustrate' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of images and the space constraints in the third paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the images are certain sources to be closure to the news', which hinders the logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You attempt to use some less common phrases, such as 'advancement in the technology' and 'accommodate the important news'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'self explained', 'closure to the news', and 'images tagged to the news'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and refining your word choice to better suit the academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you are able to construct meaningful sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am totally agree' (should be 'I totally agree'), 'if the person does not the language' (missing verb), and 'as their no space left' (should be 'there is'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your point, they are frequent enough to suggest that your control over complex structures is not yet consistent enough for a higher band.
