IELTS Writing Task 2 question
News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures.
Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words.
What is your opinion about this?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
An effective way to deliver a message or news is through the images. Because according to the scientist a human brain catch images faster than the words. And many people have an opinion regarding the images being displayed more rather the the information in various advertising media, TV or news. In my point of view I do think the same way. This essay will state my views for the same.
World news or animals, everything comes with a picture on the newspaper. Which is crucial for readers to understand and it gives them a sense of realistic senario of them being present in the situation. Basically photos are a method through which the news coming on any platform can connect to the viewers in a real manner.
Moreover, many individuals who do not know how to read can also relate to the picture and understand about the topic. Nonetheless not every person has time in this fast pace world to read the news online or on paper peacefully. There are some people who just want to have a glance at the page they are on and get an idea about what is happening around the world. And when doing that their eyes only want photos. It is more like a daily ritual for them.
Therefore, be it any news or an add shoot images are the best and most powerful way of representing a product or a scene to the public. Because they are very curious to find out what happened and that can be best depicted through pictures.
