IELTS Writing Task 2 question
News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures.
Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words.
What is your opinion about this?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is undeniable to say that in this contemporary era, news stories that people watched on televison or read in newspaper have alots of images that reflect the story. Some people find it is a pivotal development others are disagree. However, in my opion, words have more advantages rather then pictures.
To begin with, there is no doubt that people will love to see images while they were watching news or reading a newspaper because they will understand more by a picture. After that sometimes, people will not understand the language or the accent that reporter or story teller used. Another reason is that due to advancement in technolgy, people oftenly use their gadets such as cell phone, computer and so on, so they are more comfartable to watch the news along with the pictures which seems easy to read for tham. That work as a attraction for tham.
On the other side, if an individual read a news without an image that helps himself to full concentration on that news rather than its image. Second, it also helps to get some interperonal skills which is reading skill, and helps to learn new vocabulary. In term of writting one can learn how to write in a formet and how to write formaly.
To cap it all, in my prosepective, it is a good change during a span of time but there are some dire consequences that cannot be igored at any cost. So, people will keep that thing in their minds.

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'televison', 'alots', 'opion', 'technolgy', 'gadets', 'comfartable', 'tham', 'interperonal', 'writting', 'formet', 'formaly', 'prospective', and 'igored'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'contemporary era' and 'pivotal development', the high frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies significantly constrains the range and causes strain for the reader, fitting Band 4.5.

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in heavy errors.
