Student answer (Band 4.0)
Nowadays, new stories on and newspapers are very often accompanied.some people say that these pictures are more effective than words.I did not agree with this statement. First reason is that people want to listen clear words they did'n understand the picture because picture shows not emotions and feeling but words can convay our message very clear and to the point. Forexample if you look at picture of "Taj Mehall;which are located in India, every one knows that the story of behinde but when we read the whol love story than we realise the actual condition of their beloved persons,so this is more importance of words.no dought TV and Newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures and mostly people like more effective but we did not relay the value and importance of words.in my openion words are more effective than pictures. To sum up, pictures are important but words gives us proper sense of understanding.very simple we have to focus on both sides which is more effective for our life and future as well because its demand of new generation and tecnology.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response presents a clear position regarding whether pictures are more effective than words in news stories. The writer attempts to provide reasons and an example using the Taj Mahal to support the argument. However, the task achievement is significantly limited by the length requirement. The text contains only 179 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum specified in the instructions. Consequently, the ideas are underdeveloped and the discussion remains brief and superficial. While the prompt is addressed, the lack of sufficient length and depth restricts the score to a Band 4.0 under the task achievement criteria.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay displays some basic organization with paragraph breaks, although the formatting is erratic and features long gaps. There are attempts to link ideas using transitional markers such as 'First reason', 'Forexample', and 'To sum up'. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and abrupt transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'its demand of new generation'. Paragraphing is not used effectively, as the main body and conclusion lack standard structure and visual clarity. Cohesive devices are used mechanically rather than flexibly, placing this aspect of the writing at a Band 4.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by numerous spelling and word choice errors. Examples include 'convay' instead of convey, 'bheinde' for behind, 'whol' for whole, 'morden' or implied terms, and 'openion' for opinion. While the student attempts to use some topic-related words such as 'emotions', 'newspapers', and 'technology', the range is narrow and inadequate for a higher band. Frequent spelling mistakes and non-standard collocations such as 'did not relay the value' cause noticeable strain for the reader, aligning the lexical resource with a Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions. Attempts at complex or compound structures often result in faulty grammar and punctuation errors, such as run-on sentences ('Nowadays, new stories on and newspapers are very often accompanied.some people say...'). There are frequent errors in verb tenses, agreement, and auxiliary usage, such as 'I did not agree' and 'picture shows not emotions and feeling'. Punctuation is frequently omitted or misused, and capitalization rules are often ignored. These persistent errors restrict the grammatical score to Band 4.0.
