Student answer (Band 4.0)
While looking pictures people excited to know the story behind it. Most of the people tells pictures are important than the letters. I will discuss my opinion in below.
First of all, human being are attracts by paintaings or portraits after they prefer to read the whole story. It works like practical more important than theory because image already set on their minds. For example, from the childhood our mind finds colourful views it grew up like that. While watching the news on television it is best combination show images and brief it. Most of the people get ideas what happens on this photo or publish photo is clue itself.
Moreover, in the ancient time, lack of technology they were not aware for the images but this generation have good reading and they learn things through the practicle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The student attempts to address the prompt regarding whether pictures accompanying news stories are more effective than words, offering a basic personal opinion. However, the response is severely underdeveloped and falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 138 words. Because the length requirement is not met, the ideas are limited and lack the necessary extension, explanation, and relevant examples required to achieve a higher score. While the writer touches on concepts such as human attraction to visual media and the combination of television news and images, these points are expressed very simplistically and cannot be fully evaluated as a complete essay. Consequently, the task is only addressed in a minimal fashion, aligning with the descriptors for Band 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is divided into three very brief paragraphs, attempting an introduction, a body paragraph, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is weak and the overall organisation is disrupted by severe linguistic limitations. Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, such as 'First of all' and 'Moreover', which fail to create a smooth, logical flow of ideas. Referencing is also problematic, as seen in phrases like 'behind it' and 'on this photo', where the antecedents are unclear. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs are too brief to develop a cohesive argument. The overall arrangement is disjointed, which places this aspect of the writing at Band 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used throughout the response is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on everyday words such as 'pictures', 'story', 'people', and 'news'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'human being are attracts' and 'tells pictures are important than the letters'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'portraits' and 'technological', but these are handled with significant inaccuracy. Spelling and word formation errors also occur, such as 'paintaings' and 'practicle'. Because the lexical range is very limited and errors occasionally strain the reader's understanding, the performance is best described by Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical structure of the response is extremely limited and heavily flawed. The text consists mostly of simple sentences, and attempts at complex structures are consistently faulty, as demonstrated in clauses like 'While looking pictures people excited to know the story behind it' and 'in the ancient time, lack of technology they were not aware for the images'. There is a high frequency of grammatical errors, including missing prepositions, incorrect verb tenses, subject-verb agreement issues ('human being are attracts'), and fragment sentences. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and distort the intended meaning, which corresponds directly to the Band 4.0 descriptors.
