Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt regarding whether pictures are more effective than words in news stories. However, the student's position is somewhat confused in the introduction, where they state "i completely agree with this both essay" and "this both view," indicating a misunderstanding of the prompt's premise which asks for an opinion on a comparison rather than an agreement with two separate ideas. Main ideas are presented, such as the use of commercials and crime prevention through photos, but they are often underdeveloped, repetitive, and lack clear support. The conclusion reiterates the ambiguous stance. This aligns best with the Band 5 descriptor, where the task is addressed only partially, the position is not always entirely clear, and ideas are limited.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a conventional structure. However, logical progression is severely hindered by awkward transitions and confusing sentences, such as "the reason why I support this both view is that it helps individuals in their daaily lives." Cohesive devices are frequently misused or repetitive, with excessive reliance on words like "therefore" and "so" to connect unrelated ideas. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak, meaning information does not flow smoothly. Referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. These features place the essay firmly at Band 4, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently circling around words like "pictures," "words," "television," and "newspapers." There are frequent word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as "helps information," "wasted of newspaper," and "crime bandits." Spelling errors also occur, such as "whethere" and "daaily." While the student attempts to use some less common vocabulary related to the topic, the lack of control and noticeable errors often cause difficulty for the reader and obscure meaning. This performance corresponds to a Band 4, where vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and errors strain the reader's comprehension.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Ang saklaw ng gramatika ay napakakonti, na kadalasang umaasa sa mga simple o de-sira na kumplikadong istruktura. May mga madalas at laganap na error sa pangunahing gramatika, paggamit ng tense, at bantas sa buong teksto. Ang mga halimbawa ay kinabibilangan ng "whethere words or photos... are the same important," "they are always see a lot of commercial show," at "the only way to catch the bandits it to drawing the face." Ang mga error sa subject-verb agreement, maling paggamit ng pang-ukol, at run-on sentences ay karaniwan. Ang mga error na ito ay madalas na nagbabago sa kahulugan at humahadlang sa komunikasyon, na umaayon sa deskriptor ng Band 4 kung saan ang mga error ay madalas at ang kahulugan ay minsan ay malabo.
