Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this time of event people are more inclined towards the photogaraphs that TV and news companies attach in their news content. With some agreeing on it, as it give more clear picture of the story. I strongly agree with it and will give the reasons below.
On Before time, pictures were not so common in the new line because of the gap in the technology. The people was to rely only on the written content for the information. As the advancement took place, The TV news became more video content based and newspaper templates changed so much with more graphic photos and pictures taking much of the space in the whole context of the news. The positive side of it is people now can see the incident of the places and feel the impact of on article by visualizing it. Furthermore, it brings advantages to advertising agency to showcase their products in front of people to give them actual feel of it through the image of their products.
Although, sometimes there can be negative effect from the pictures. Like the accident images, not all people can grasp it and can effect their emotional intelligence. Adittionally, advertisements on products such as cigarettes , alcohol brands can entice the public of unmatured ages. Given that i still think pictures make news more revelant and other harmful parts can be controlled by bluring the unwanted portions in the shots and puttings caution signs where necessary.
In conclusion, The images are driving the news articles in both TV and newspapers because their create relevance and support the stories in real time. Whereas the negative side of the news photos can be regulated and for harmful products a disclosure of the item with the cautionary sign printed on it can do the job.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear overall position that pictures are more effective than words in news stories. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the visual impact of incidents and the benefits for advertising, reflecting the requirement for a half-band achievement. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed; for instance, the point regarding advertising agencies is introduced briefly without sufficient extension. Furthermore, the discussion touches upon negative effects like emotional impact and advertising to underage audiences, but these points are generalized rather than fully explored. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support all arguments more thoroughly with specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance presented in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilized effectively to separate historical context, positive aspects, negative implications, and the final summary. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, with transitional phrases like 'On Before time' and referencing issues that disrupt the smooth progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are present but can feel somewhat repetitive or forced. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure more natural referencing and a smoother, more sophisticated logical progression between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate basic ideas about news media and imagery. There are, however, noticeable lexical errors and issues with word choice, spelling, and collocation, such as 'photogaraphs', 'new line', 'unmatured ages', and 'revelant'. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, but these attempts often result in unnatural phrasing. To move up to the next band, the student needs to expand their lexical repertoire and ensure greater accuracy in word formation, spelling, and collocation so that meaning is conveyed without distraction.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a limited range of structures, relying on a mix of simple sentences and occasional complex forms. Attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, characterized by persistent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and punctuation. Examples of errors include 'as it give more clear picture', 'The people was to rely', and 'puttings caution signs'. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms with improved grammatical accuracy and control over verb tenses and agreement.
