Student answer (Band 5.5)
In presnt times, few people thinks that pictures are providing clear information better than words in their television and newspapers. In my view, I totally agree with the statement because images provide usefull information which help people to understand it better and images are attractive to many readers.
First of all, television companies are producing images which can provide more information to their readers, so they do not have to struggle to read the entire news. many companies are paying huge money to create images which the help of different tools and softwares so there audicance do not have to read all the words. for example, all the newspapers and television shows has images or recoding because it help the audiance to understand better without concentration on all the words.
secondly, the newspaper or television which has images will be attractive for their readers becuase they will get the general idea from the image what is the news about and if they have any interest reading that news. moreover, it will save time and they can utilizethe time more effectively. on the other hand, if the news paper and television will have only words it will take more time to find important news which they wanted to read. For instance, nowadays newspaper and television news are showing pictures realated to their news so the audiance will be attracted to watch the news.
To conclude, picture are used very often in newspaper and TV because they provide useful information better than words. I firmly belive with the statement because images provide important information realated to the news and audiance can save time by reading the news which they wanted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that pictures are more effective, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, including that images help readers understand news and attract their attention, with examples referring to newspapers and television. However, the support is often general rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that pictures save time is repeated, but you do not show how they communicate particular information more effectively than words. The comparison with text-only news is also brief, and the example about companies spending money on images does not directly establish their effectiveness. Develop each reason with a specific situation or example and explain the advantage over written reporting more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “First of all” and “secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally follow a sensible order, moving from understanding information to attracting readers and saving time. However, connections between some points are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph shifts from images providing information to companies paying to create them, without explaining the link. Repetition of “images,” “news,” and the idea of saving time also limits progression. Some references, such as “it” in “understand it better,” are not fully clear. Use linking phrases to show cause and contrast, and make each paragraph develop one main reason through explanation and a focused example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “attractive,” “general idea,” “important information,” and “save time.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “images,” “news,” and “information.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “presnt,” “usefull,” “becuase,” and “belive,” as well as inaccurate or unnatural combinations such as “paying huge money” and “with the help of different tools and softwares.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Build a more precise vocabulary for comparing visual and written reporting, and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using clauses with “because,” “so,” and “if,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “few people thinks” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “all the newspapers and television shows has images” also mismatches subject and verb. The sentence beginning “many companies are paying…” contains unclear clause construction, and punctuation is often missing between sentences. Practise accurate sentence boundaries and basic agreement first, then build longer sentences with subordinate clauses. Careful editing for capitals and full stops would also make the response easier to read.
