Student answer (Band 5.0)
some people says that these pictures are much effective than words . From my point of view that it is really good. As we know not every person can read and write so they know what happened by seeing pictures on TV and newspaper . With pictures we can quickly find the situation whats happening.
For example in Tv we saw some news regarding floods we can easily get to know how much floods caused alot of damaged. The houses was badly damaged by seeing pictures on tv. As we know some old people cant read properly from tv .For them it is easy to know them whats happening here and there watching pictures on tv. sone people things if they are reading newspaper having pictures on them is easily get to know about the whole news . For example if there is a small child saw tv and newspaper with pictures they easily understand by looking at the pictures. like some cartoons they will enjoy seeing them. some have there eyesight issue they cant read properly words on newspaper and Tv. For them pictures are more effective than words
I my opinions, pictures are more effective than words because they help people understand the news easily and quickly. pictures show the real situation and make it memorable and interesting. However, words are also more effective as we learn something from words .so pictures and words both are effective ways to present news.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall opinion that pictures are more effective because they help people understand news quickly, and you include relevant examples such as flood damage and children understanding images. However, the response only partially develops the comparison: the point that words also help people learn appears briefly at the end and is not explained or reconciled with your main view. Several examples repeat the same idea rather than extending it. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. To strengthen the answer, explain more fully when pictures are useful and what information words can communicate better, then support each point with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you begin with your opinion, give examples in the middle, and return to your view in the final paragraph. The flood example is relevant, and the conclusion attempts to acknowledge both pictures and words. However, the response does not progress clearly from one main point to the next. Several ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and links such as “For example,” “As we know,” and “However” are repeated or do not clearly show how the ideas relate. The child and cartoon example, for instance, shifts away from news without a clear connection. Use separate paragraphs for your main reasons and counterpoint, and make each example directly support the paragraph’s central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic topic, with relevant terms such as “pictures,” “news,” “floods,” and “damaged.” You also attempt phrases such as “real situation” and “more effective,” which help express your position. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “much effective” is not the natural comparative form, and “caused alot of damaged” uses an incorrect form of “damage.” Repetition of “pictures,” “easy,” and “know” also limits precision. Build a small set of topic-specific alternatives and check collocations and spelling, such as “visual evidence,” “understand the situation,” and “damage to homes.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You mainly use simple sentences and make some attempts to connect ideas with clauses, as in “because they help people understand the news easily and quickly.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation can make the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “some people says,” “the houses was badly damaged,” and “I my opinions.” Some sentences are also incomplete or run together, such as “For them it is easy to know them whats happening here and there watching pictures on tv.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms, and divide long or unclear sentences into complete units. Proofreading for capital letters and sentence boundaries would also improve readability.
