Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is debated whether the news which are displayed on TV screen and in newspapers contains pictures that are more effective than words. From my perspective, relevant images facilitate conveying information in a better way than an audio detail, as the significant portion of the population understands the data which is supported by videos or images. This essay will elaborate it further with examples from my own experience.
In this contemporary era, the high quality images is the most common demand of the public, the media stories which are formed with detailed pictures gains public attention which brings enormous benefits to the creator. The occourance of any serious events such as drone attack, fire explosion and others raises the fascination of the people and they eagerly wait for the description of the whole incident. These images help people to know aabout the minor details which is the answer of their unlimited questions that usually arises when they get infromed about any spontanous mishap. For example, the small details in images help people to understand well rather than audios which are less interested.
Additionally, people are more interested in pictural news rather than audios which were popular source of information in the past. However, there should be age restriction as childen are exposed to the highly senstive content with is not good for their mental health. Besides this, the detailed picture may promote the crimes and frauds which they must not be aware a this younger age. For intance, the pictures related to sexual assaulchildren percieve the whole news through images and they can convey it easily to their elders.
To conclude, pictures are more effective way to convey infromation, but there should be age retriction for children as they can easily watch the content with high senstivity, which could raise the crime rates.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you believe pictures communicate news more effectively, while also noting that sensitive images may be unsuitable for children. You give relevant reasons, including that images show details of events and attract public attention, and you attempt to support these with examples. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The example about a drone attack or fire remains general, and the final example about sexual assault is difficult to understand, so it does not clearly demonstrate your point. The comparison with words is also not fully explored; you refer mainly to audio rather than explaining how pictures compare with written news. Develop one or two examples clearly and address the comparison more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “However,” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the second paragraph moves from children’s exposure to sensitive content to crime and fraud, then to an unclear example, without showing how these points connect. Some references are also difficult to follow, particularly “they” in the final body paragraph. The conclusion repeats the main position but introduces the claim that sensitivity could “raise the crime rates,” which has not been clearly established earlier. Organise each paragraph around one main idea and use clearer links between claims and examples.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “relevant images,” “public attention,” “minor details,” and “sensitive content.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond basic terms. However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “occourance,” “aabout,” “infromed,” “spontanous,” and “pictural news.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “audio detail,” “less interested” for audio, and “high quality images is the most common demand.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Using simpler, precise phrases is more effective than attempting elaborate wording that does not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “images which are supported by videos” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, errors occur frequently, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “the high quality images is” and “stories … gains”; articles and plurals are also problematic in phrases such as “a better way” and “the significant portion.” The sentence beginning “Besides this” contains a broken construction, and the final example lacks clear sentence boundaries and grammatical links. Work on agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure first. Shorter sentences with one clearly expressed idea will help you communicate your reasoning more reliably.
