Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, the television news and the newspaper are presented with images. Many people think that these images provide better information than words. I strongly agree with this statement and I think photos give much better insight in the news report than words.
Firstly, Pictures are much easier to understand as compare to reading the whole news stories, because our brain are much better in understanding thing by seeing them. For example, young childrens are not very good in understanding written words, whereas they can easily understand an image. Moreover, presenting news with images is much more interesting, and it connects us with the story.
Secondly, When news story is presented with images it creates emotional connection with the audience. Images can easily present the seriousness of the situation. for example, when news of natural disaster are presented with photos audience get emotionaly connected with story as they get see the how bad the situation is. Although, young generation is not very intersted in news, but if the news is presented with photos it easily catches their attention.
In the conculsion, I strongly agree with the statement that photos in TV news and newspaper are much better way of convevying information. Photos provide quick information, and even uneducated people can have access to the news reports with pictures. Moreover, young generation can also be attracted towards newsapaper reading by connecting images to the story.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you strongly agree that pictures communicate news more effectively. You give relevant reasons, including ease of understanding and emotional impact, and illustrate these with children and disaster coverage. However, the examples are broad and the second reason is not fully explained; for instance, clarify what a particular image helps viewers understand that words might not convey as quickly. The point about attracting young people also overlaps with your earlier claim about interest rather than developing a distinct argument. The response is 15 words below the required minimum, so it needs a little more development. Extending one example and considering a limitation of pictures would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from ease of understanding to emotional impact, and the examples are placed near the points they support. This gives the essay a coherent structure. To strengthen cohesion further, make the links between claims more precise and avoid relying mainly on basic sequencing words. The sentence beginning “Although, young generation…” is not smoothly connected to the preceding point, and the conclusion repeats several ideas from the body rather than drawing them together. Clearer referencing and a more purposeful final synthesis would add flexibility to the organisation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including relevant terms such as “emotional connection,” “seriousness,” and “natural disaster.” The wording is generally understandable, but the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, which reduces precision: “better insight in the news report,” “get see,” and “convevying information” are examples. Spelling errors such as “intersted,” “conculsion,” and “newsapaper” are also noticeable. Aim to use more accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, “gain a clearer understanding of a news report” is more natural than “better insight in the news report,” while “conveying information” is the correct form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a comparison with “whereas” and a concession beginning “Although.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction are present. Examples include “our brain are,” “young childrens,” and “when news of natural disaster are presented”; these need forms such as “our brains are,” “young children,” and “when news of natural disasters is presented.” The clause “as they get see the how bad the situation is” also needs restructuring. Review subject–verb agreement and practise building accurate subordinate clauses. More consistent control of these patterns would make your varied sentence forms easier to follow.
