Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is an undeniable truth that colourfull audio-visual objects captures more attension and interest than printed materials. Many people believe that nowadays all sort of news and information either in paper or television are presented along with pictures to make them more attractive. I personally think that this is very effective way to catch individual's attention. However, it may also cause easy distraction.Reasons behind my opinion are explained in the following paragraphs.
On the one hand, reading just printed word perhaps make person less attentive and bored. While if the part of the same information has some sort intresting pictures might hold one's attention and will make them to read continuesly. Additionally, in this contemporary era it is very easy to find picture by the reporters to support their stories which influences viewers more. For instance, reporter reporting something about famous personality will find some personal pictures via social media and will show them while telecasting the news.
One the other hand, some people will overlook the main idea of the stories and will only focus on pictures shown. To add more, picture some times shown does not relates to the story, they are just used to increase viewrs and readers. To examplify, person reporting natural disaster story will show very horiffic pictures that may not even happend, which may cause unwanted fear and assumptions in people's mind.
In conclusion, although involving realistic pictures to enhance the saying of the story is beneficial, inappropriat use of pictures should be avoided to prevent distration and disturbance among community.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you consider pictures effective for attracting attention, while recognising that they can distract or mislead. You address both sides and give relevant examples, such as reporters using social-media images and disaster pictures creating fear. This meets the task well. However, some points are asserted more than explained: the claim that pictures make readers continue reading could be linked more directly to how they communicate or clarify a story, and the example of misleading disaster images would benefit from explaining their consequences. To strengthen the response further, develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and ensure the conclusion reflects your precise view on when pictures are more effective than words.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits of pictures to their possible drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help show the contrast. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the opening paragraph’s “However” introduces a qualification before the main discussion without fully clarifying its relationship to your position. Within paragraphs, ideas sometimes move quickly from a general claim to an example, with limited explanation connecting them. Use referencing and transitions more naturally, and build each paragraph through a claim, explanation, and example so the progression feels more continuous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “attention,” “distraction,” “personal pictures,” and “unwanted fear and assumptions.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, but inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes interrupt the reader. Examples include “colourfull,” “attension,” “intresting,” and “horiffic”; “printed word” and “enhance the saying of the story” are also unnatural expressions. Some phrases are broad or imprecise, such as “audio-visual objects” and “all sort of news.” This fits a developing but limited range: you can discuss the topic, but control of spelling, collocation, and precise expression is not yet consistent. Prioritise accurate, natural combinations over more elaborate wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple and more complex forms, including a contrastive clause beginning “although” and a conditional idea about pictures causing distraction. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical control are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. For example, “colourfull audio-visual objects captures” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “will make them to read” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence beginning “While if the part…” is also incomplete and needs restructuring. Articles and plural forms are inconsistent, as in “make person” and “some sort intresting pictures.” Practise building complete clauses and checking agreement, articles, and verb patterns; this will make your varied ideas clearer.
