Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You give a relevant opinion that pictures attract attention and can communicate emotion, and you briefly compare them with words. However, the position is not fully clear: “both is important” suggests a balanced view, but the response does not explain how words and pictures work together or which is more effective overall. The examples are only sketched—“when people see accident picture”—without explaining what the image conveys or adding a specific real-life example. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, so the task is addressed only minimally and the ideas remain very underdeveloped. To improve, state your view directly, develop two reasons with explanation, and include a relevant example before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce your view, use “firstly” for one reason, and “secondly” for another. This gives the reader some indication of the order of ideas. However, the progression stops quickly, and the second point about emotion is not explained or linked to the first. The opening sentence also combines several claims without showing how they relate, while the final line does not provide a conclusion. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and connect each reason to an explanation or example. A fuller sequence of ideas and clearer links between sentences would make the response easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words, including “picture,” “attention,” “words,” and “emotions,” so the general topic is recognisable. There is also an attempt to express effects with phrases such as “attract people’s mind.” However, the vocabulary is repetitive and several spelling errors make meaning harder to access, including “belive,” “picuture,” “attract,” and “secandery.” Some combinations are not natural in English; for example, “picture has emotions” would be clearer as “pictures evoke emotions.” Build a wider range of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. More precise choices such as “draw attention,” “convey information,” and “evoke an emotional response” would help express your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both short statements and a longer sentence beginning “because,” showing some effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on isolated phrases. The longer sentence, however, is difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly formed, and the response contains recurring problems with sentence structure and agreement. For example, “both is important” needs a plural verb, and “picture has emotions” needs a clearer grammatical construction. Several sentences also lack clear punctuation or a complete structure, which makes the intended relationships between ideas uncertain. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with “because,” “when,” and “which.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries when editing.
