Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is true that illustrations are excessively used by the news channels and news editors while presenting news. From my perspective, I believe the pictorial presentation is significantly more effective than the wording, primarily because it attracts the viewers and explain the main idea of that particular news in a faster way.
One evident benefit of having pictures in the newspapers or News stories is that they encourage people to engage in that particular news first. This engagement not only makes the reader more interested in that particular section but it also enables them to read the whole section in depth. For example, the main News is always highlighted with big picture on the front page, so that people can focus more on that headlines. Thus, it is clear that pciture speak louder than words.
This strategy save lots of time of the users, as people get the main idea of the news after having a glance of the pictur. People use different NeNews channels use this tactic to improve their productivity and growth.
helps them to undersatand the situation more clearly.
In conclusion, presenting news in the form of pictures are more effective way to catch the attention of the readers and explain the important point more quickly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you believe pictures are more effective because they attract attention and communicate the main idea quickly. You give relevant reasons, including the example of a large front-page image encouraging readers to notice a story. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are brief and not fully explained, and the second reason is interrupted and unclear. The unfinished passage beginning “This strategy save lots of time” does not develop how pictures help audiences understand news. The response also falls short of the required 250 words. To strengthen your answer, explain each reason with a specific example and develop the conclusion from those points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you state your opinion, give a paragraph about attracting readers, and finish with a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Thus,” and “In conclusion” help show relationships between ideas. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the paragraph about saving time is fragmented: “People use different NeNews channels use this tactic…” is followed by a separate line, “helps them to understand…”. This leaves the reader unsure who “them” refers to and how the ideas connect. The conclusion repeats the opening rather than bringing the reasons together. Use complete, clearly separated paragraphs and connect each supporting point to its explanation and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “pictorial presentation,” “engage,” “main idea,” and “front page.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both attention and speed of understanding. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “excessively used,” “wording,” and repeated references to “particular news.” Spelling errors including “pciture,” “pictur,” and “undersatand,” along with the accidental “NeNews,” make the writing less clear and polished. Aim for precise, natural collocations and proofread carefully. For example, “news coverage” and “draw readers’ attention” would express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the opening sentence with “primarily because” and the example introduced by “so that.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For instance, “it attracts the viewers and explain the main idea” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “This strategy save lots of time” also needs “saves.” The sentence beginning “People use different NeNews channels use this tactic” contains a faulty structure, and “presenting news in the form of pictures are” has a disagreement between the subject and verb. The isolated fragment “helps them…” also lacks a clear subject. Build accurate complete sentences first, then add complex structures.
