Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's world, news is the most useful thing in our lives. Many stories on television and in daily papers are less direct via photographs. Many people think that photos about news are more beneficial than words. I personally believe that many group of people are thinking about news from a picture. Here I am discussing the view about this topics.
First and the foremost, younger people are having a less time in their busy schedule so they are going to prefer watching news on tv. They are going to see photographs of the news and they are assuming full story on their own thoughts but many times it is true and many times it is false although they are not overthink. Also, many news channel show 100 top news of the world and they can show only pictures for them with one headline. For example, there is 95% of channel in the world that are using this for popularity in this younger generation.
Secondly, Older generation are not comfortable with technology so they are not using tv and mobile and usually they have time so they can read a full story instead of watching image of news. Moreover, newspaper is not showing a complete photographs of that particular stories because they are not having required space of news images. For instance, news paper are coming with 10 pages in the world and they have a lot of news in the world so one particular information have a few space and they can not cover image of this news many times.
In my opinion, images of the news are more important things than words but it depends on the information types. many people have not time so they are going with images more than articles words, While older people have a time so they can read news article than showing a particular image.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a relevant opinion, especially in the conclusion: images can be more useful for people with little time, while older readers may prefer articles. The response also offers reasons about convenience and newspaper space. However, the position is not consistently clear: the opening says pictures are “less direct,” while later you argue they are more important. The discussion focuses mainly on age groups rather than explaining directly when pictures communicate news more effectively than words, or what words can convey better. Examples such as “95% of channel” are unsupported and unclear. To strengthen the response, state your view clearly from the introduction and develop a specific example showing how an image informs or misleads compared with a written report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First” and “Secondly,” and a concluding opinion. This gives the reader some guidance. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several ideas are joined without clear relationships. For example, the first body paragraph moves from young people’s schedules to assumptions about photographs and then to news channels, without fully explaining the links. Connectors such as “Also,” “Moreover,” and “For instance” are used, but they do not always make the reasoning clear, and the conclusion largely repeats the age-based contrast. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “photographs,” “headline,” “newspaper,” and “information,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations sound unnatural, sometimes making the meaning unclear. Examples include “less direct via photographs,” “assuming full story,” and “one particular information.” Repetition of “news,” “people,” and “image” also limits precision. Aim to learn common collocations and choose words that express the intended comparison accurately—for example, whether a picture can “convey” information or whether a report provides “context.” Check word forms and spelling as well, including “newspaper” and “channels.” More precise vocabulary would make your arguments easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using clauses with “so,” “although,” and “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms. For example, “many group of people are thinking” has agreement and number problems, while “Older generation are not comfortable” needs a different article or plural construction. In “one particular information have a few space,” the subject–verb agreement and sentence structure are also incorrect. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “many people” after a full stop and the comma before “While.” Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when their relationship is clear.
