You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Madam!

I am writing to express my interest in a training course that i recently saw advertised. I think it will benefite me , help me grow profesionally and improve my performance at work.

The training course was about the lastest technology used in medecine production wich helps you understand more about the ingredients used in pill formation and also how to lower the cost of production. Another beneficial and useful part of the training is about learning the alergic reaction that some pacients have not from the active ingredient but from the ingredients used in formation.

It will be very generous and helpful of you if you could sent a letter of recomentation towards the course centre in order to make my participation easier.

This training course will help me be closer to the patient during my work hours , understanding the side effects and allergic reaction they might have and the methods i can suggest to keep their medecines safe and not oxidised.

Thank you for you time and consideration!

Kind regards

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you describe a course on technology in medicine production, ask your manager for a recommendation letter, and explain how the learning could help you advise patients about side effects and medicine storage. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. However, the request for company support is quite narrow: a recommendation letter is mentioned, but you could also ask about funding, time off, or help arranging attendance. The job benefits are relevant but would be stronger if linked more specifically to your current duties. The opening also differs from the required “Dear Sir or Madam,” and the exclamation mark makes the tone less formal than a workplace letter should be.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces your interest, describes the course, makes a request, and then explains its workplace value. Paragraph breaks help the reader follow these stages, and phrases such as “Another beneficial and useful part” signal an addition. The progression is generally clear, though some links are mechanical or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “help” and “useful.” The long course-description sentence also packs several topics together, making the relationship between production costs and allergic reactions less easy to follow. Separate these into clearer points and use more precise transitions. A conventional formal opening and a clearly punctuated closing would also make the letter’s structure feel more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “ingredients,” “active ingredient,” “production,” “side effects,” and “oxidised,” which helps convey the course content and its practical value. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “lower the cost of production.” However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “benefite,” “profesionally,” “medecine,” “alergic,” and “recomendation,” and these reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Some expressions are also awkward or imprecise: “patient during my work hours” does not clearly express how the course will improve your work with patients, while “ingredients used in formation” could be stated more naturally. Proofread spelling and choose collocations that express your meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “technology used in medicine production which helps you understand” and a purpose phrase in “in order to make my participation easier.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “if you could sent” should use the base form after “could,” and “Thank you for you time” needs the possessive “your.” The opening and closing punctuation also need attention: use a comma after the salutation rather than an exclamation mark, and finish the closing consistently. Some sentences are long and would benefit from clearer clause boundaries. Continue practising modal verb patterns, possessives, and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
