Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to let you know that how amazing opportunity it will be to learn a brand new your training module.
I am positive that as an International film editor the course your firm is providing can a life-changing skill an editor could adapt to get better in filmography field. I have been working in the field for over 5 years, however, as per my experience a key skill I was lacking as an filmographer was a Softfware program for editing raw videos.
One of the main quality is your company have are to take on challenging task such as developing a software from a scratch. Our company have been admiring your company's work for a while now, not only building training programme with top notch quality also providing in a time frame. We as an emerging company would really appreciate if you your company can help us transform our dream software into reality.
Nonetheless, the course has holistic approach for a beginner to an expert user to brush up their skills. Although programme is providing a knowledge from the foundation level to get absolute clarity about any solution a technician needs can be founded in quick seconds and solved in the other moment.
Yours faithfully,
Robin Bosco

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the content is confusing and lacks clarity. While you mention a training course, the letter shifts focus to asking the company to help develop software, which contradicts the prompt's instruction to ask for training for your own job. The ideas are not well-developed or logically connected to the task of requesting professional development. The tone is inconsistent, shifting between a personal request and a business proposal, which makes the purpose of the letter unclear. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly addresses one of the bullet points in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The transition between describing the course and asking for help is abrupt and confusing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Nonetheless' and 'Although', but they are often used incorrectly or do not logically link the preceding and following sentences. For example, the final paragraph attempts to summarize the course benefits but ends with a confusing sentence about technicians. The referencing is also unclear, as it is difficult to distinguish between the training course you want to take and the software development project you are proposing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'filmography field' instead of 'filmmaking' and 'Softfware program' (spelling error). Phrases like 'brush up their skills' are used, but the overall range is restricted. Some words are misused, such as 'founded' instead of 'found'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the repetitive nature of the language hinder the professional tone required for a formal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('your company have are'), incorrect sentence structure ('let you know that how amazing opportunity it will be'), and missing articles or incorrect prepositions. The attempt at complex sentences often results in errors, such as the sentence starting with 'Although programme is providing...'. While you use a mix of simple and some complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and syntax prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
