Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you addressed the three bullet points—describing the course, explaining how the company can help, and stating the benefits—the explanations are underdeveloped. For example, you did not specify what kind of help you need from the company (e.g., financial support or time off). Additionally, the tone is inconsistent with a formal letter to a manager, as you addressed the recipient as if they were an external training provider rather than your employer. To improve, ensure you expand on each point with specific details and maintain a professional tone throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes the structure feel rushed and disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link your ideas; for instance, the transition between explaining the course and explaining why you need it is abrupt. While the overall purpose of the letter is understandable, the progression of ideas is not logical. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point and incorporate linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to create a smoother flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'taking knowledge' and 'do this course'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'banners' (likely meaning 'advertisement') and 'had that your instructors' (likely meaning 'heard'). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise professional terminology related to business and training, and ensure you use words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'I an writing' (instead of 'I am'), 'had received an interviews' (incorrect article and pluralization), and 'that is not enough for doing work' (awkward phrasing). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic typos. Incorporating a wider variety of sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, would also help improve your score.
