Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, requesting company support, and explaining the benefits. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, you mention the course is for 'upgrading skills' but do not specify the subject matter or duration, which would make the request more persuasive. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it leans towards being overly repetitive in its structure. To improve, ensure you provide more specific details about the training program to demonstrate why it is a valuable investment for the company, rather than focusing primarily on personal benefits like pay increases.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure, with each paragraph addressing a specific part of the prompt. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. You rely heavily on starting sentences with 'Sir' or 'This training', which makes the flow feel somewhat stilted. The transition between ideas could be smoother; for instance, the jump from asking for financial help to requesting extra hours is abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition to this' would help improve the flow and logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You frequently repeat basic words like 'useful', 'skills', and 'training'. While the meaning is always clear, the language does not demonstrate the range required for a higher band. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'waiting from so long' (should be 'waiting for a long time') and 'pay will be increase' (should be 'will increase'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and ensure your word choices are grammatically accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'got promotion' (missing article 'a'), 'waiting from so long', 'I want that the company should help me' (awkward phrasing), and 'pay will be increase' (incorrect verb form). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall quality. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
