Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to this letter to inform you about a training program which will be useful for me and company.
Actually, yesterday when I scrolling my instagram app then suddenly I saw a post about gas technician license program. This course duration is 3 month and fee around 3000 dollar. When I contacted with institute, the program coordinator mentioned if any organization help you in this program we will give you better offer. As you noticed, these days we get more job about gas appliances but, we don't have any gas technicians, due to this, we need to forward another company.
If company sponsor me to complete this course, It would be helpful for my career growth. Getting more calls for gas appliances, company can generate more revenue.
I hope you will take this matter with our company director and try to get approval.
I would appreciate you, if you could make it possible for me.
Yours faithfully,
Vijay

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, explaining how the company can help, and detailing the benefits for your job. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the cost, you could have provided more specific details about the curriculum or the skills gained. The connection between the course and the company's revenue is clear, but the letter could be improved by expanding on how this training specifically solves the current problem of outsourcing gas appliance work. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of information could be increased to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the introduction to the course details, the request for support, and the benefits. Paragraphing is present, though the transition between the second and third paragraphs is a bit abrupt. You use some cohesive devices like 'due to this' and 'if... then', but the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing. For example, 'I am writing to this letter' is redundant and slightly awkward. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more fluidly, ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your needs clearly. You use some relevant professional terms like 'program coordinator', 'gas appliances', and 'revenue'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'scrolling my instagram app' (which is informal and slightly ungrammatical in this context) and 'forward another company' (should be 'outsource to' or 'refer to'). To improve, focus on using more formal, professional vocabulary suitable for a workplace request, and ensure that your word choices are precise and grammatically sound.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles ('the company', 'the institute'), incorrect verb forms ('when I scrolling'), and minor punctuation errors. For example, 'I am writing to this letter' should be 'I am writing this letter'. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve the accuracy of your writing.
