Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Manager,
I came across the advertisement lately and was curious to know about the detailed training course, this would be a great boost to my career and help me in my ambitions.
The course seems to be a Digital Marketing curse which not only would be a great path to my knowledge but also would be a finest way to incline the sale of the company.
If the company can help me to enroll this course and reimburse my course fee, I will ensure that it would not be wasted in any sense however will burn midnight oil to increase the numbers of the company through this course.
As we are dealing with the international clients, this course would be great start to reach our new leads and to bring the new customers to connect with our company just digitally which could save on travel spending.
Yours Faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: describing the course, explaining how the company can help, and detailing the benefits to your job. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the course is about Digital Marketing, providing a bit more detail on the specific skills or duration would have strengthened the response. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening is slightly abrupt. To improve, ensure that each point is expanded with a clear, logical explanation to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction of the course to the request for support and the benefits. Paragraphing is present, though the structure is somewhat fragmented. You use some cohesive devices like 'however' and 'as', but the flow between sentences can be improved. Some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the connection between ideas could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that connects naturally to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'reimburse', 'ambitions', and 'digital marketing'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'curse' instead of 'course', 'incline the sale' instead of 'increase sales', and 'connect with our company just digitally'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for spelling mistakes, as these small slips impact the overall professional tone of your letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of conditional clauses ('If the company can help me...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the advertisement', 'the company'), verb forms ('to enroll this course' instead of 'to enroll in this course'), and sentence punctuation. Some sentences are slightly run-on or lack necessary prepositions. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy significantly.
