Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the Computer Accounting course, explain the need for flexible working hours, and justify the course's relevance to your current role. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention the course content, providing more specific details about how it aligns with your daily tasks would strengthen the response. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the requirements of the task are fully met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'not only... but also', 'fortunately', and 'so that', which help connect ideas. However, the transitions between some sentences feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message effectively. Phrases like 'User Support Technician' and 'boost my knowledge' are relevant to the context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'request you about getting a permission' (should be 'request permission') and 'flexible working house' (should be 'hours'). Additionally, 'distinct types data files' is missing a preposition. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of professional terminology would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use some complex sentences, there are persistent grammatical errors. For example, 'I saw advertisement' lacks an article, 'whose classes are starting' is slightly awkward, and 'resulting in boost my performance' should be 'resulting in a boost to my performance'. There are also issues with prepositions and articles throughout the text. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear, and the grammar does not significantly impede the reader's understanding. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
