Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 87 words. This significantly impacts the development of the required bullet points. While you have identified the training course and mentioned how it is useful, the explanation of how the company could help is vague and underdeveloped. To improve, you must expand on each point with specific details—such as the cost of the course, the dates, and the specific support you need from your manager—to ensure the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks proper paragraphing, which is essential for a formal letter. The ideas are presented in a single block, making it difficult to follow the progression of your request. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link your sentences; for example, you jump from describing the course to mentioning your current performance without a clear transition. To achieve a higher band, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point and incorporate linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'training' and 'job'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'packaging stuff' and 'opens the others doors'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, you should aim to use more precise professional terminology related to your field and avoid informal phrasing. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express your ideas more effectively and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with article usage ('the all ingredients'), verb tense consistency, and sentence structure. For instance, 'this course will only completed' is grammatically incorrect. Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization errors, such as 'AD I SAW' and 'IN0'. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and tense usage before attempting more complex structures.
