Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the leadership and management course, explain the company's role in covering the registration fee, and articulate how the skills gained will improve your efficiency and contribution to the team. The tone is appropriate for a professional letter to a manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the purpose and benefits of your request. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the course content or the specific management techniques you hope to master.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter follows a logical structure, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the request to the benefits, then to the logistical support needed, and finally to a professional closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'The course', 'I also believe', and 'I would be grateful if'. While the flow is logical, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. To improve, you could incorporate a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to create a more sophisticated and natural flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using professional terms such as 'beneficial', 'relevant', 'responsibilities', and 'professional development'. The language is generally accurate and appropriate for a formal business context. However, there are some minor errors, such as 'ands duties at workplace' (should be 'at the workplace') and 'valuable investment' (should be 'a valuable investment'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid minor omissions of articles, which will enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most sentences are clear and easy to follow. However, there are several grammatical slips, including missing articles ('covering registration fee' instead of 'covering the registration fee') and minor punctuation or capitalization errors (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I', 'look forward hearing' instead of 'look forward to hearing'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for small grammatical details like articles and prepositions will significantly improve your accuracy.
