Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the course, requesting company support, and explaining the benefits. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the course is vague, and the request for leave is phrased in a slightly informal and repetitive manner. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the course content (e.g., duration, provider, or specific modules) and elaborate more professionally on how the skills gained will directly impact your daily tasks. The tone is generally appropriate for a business letter, though it could be more formal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the request and the justification. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'There are plenty of benefits' and 'It will help me' are used repeatedly. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly, such as 'Furthermore,' 'Consequently,' or 'In addition to this.'

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'good' and 'help,' which limits the impact of your writing. While you successfully communicate your message, there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise business-related terminology. For instance, instead of saying 'I am not a good communicator,' you could use 'I wish to refine my interpersonal skills' or 'enhance my professional communication proficiency.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the company give some leave' (should be 'gives') and 'do better leadership' (should be 'demonstrate better leadership'). Additionally, there is a typo in 'mt work.' While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor slips to improve your accuracy.
