Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points, but the development is inconsistent. You identify the course as a 'charter accountant' program, explain the need due to technical issues, and mention company support. However, the explanation of how the company can help is vague; you mention 'allow me to get the training' but do not specify if you need financial support, time off, or equipment. The ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack the professional tone required for a formal letter to a manager. To improve, ensure each bullet point is clearly and distinctly addressed with specific, actionable details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is divided into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the logical progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Similarly' and 'In today's technology world', but they are often used incorrectly or do not connect the sentences in a natural way. The flow between the introduction and the body paragraphs is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument smoothly. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the coherence significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which hinders the professional tone. For example, 'revealed by our company' is an incorrect collocation for an advertisement, and 'get pick performance' is a misuse of the phrase 'peak performance'. You also struggle with word forms, such as 'posses' (possess) and 'charter accountant' (chartered accountant). While you attempt to use more complex vocabulary, the frequent errors in word choice and collocation mean that the message is not always conveyed with precision. Focusing on learning common business collocations would be very beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('employees should posses'), article usage ('a training course'), and sentence structure ('I would like you to inform that'). Many sentences are fragmented or contain run-on structures that make them difficult to parse. While you attempt some complex sentences, the lack of control over basic grammar rules results in a high frequency of errors. You should focus on mastering simple sentence structures before attempting more complex ones to ensure your writing is accurate and easy to understand.
