Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to share about a training course offered in Singapore on graphics designing and planning. Flywire Limited in Singapore offers a short accelerated program designed on integrating artificial intelligence with graphics aimed to elevate the marketing industry. It focuses on pairing new AI tools with visual creativity to help the designing industry deliver faster and attractive digital products.
I am highly interested in pursuing this short-term training workshop. If possible, I would like to know whether employees are allowed to take courses for professional development. Moreover, I would highly appreciate if the firm can avail study leaves.
As mentioned, this course is specifically designed for professionals already working in designing industry. It will help me in polishing my skills of presentation, also, I will get the opportunity to learn modern and evolving techniques available in the market which in turn, will help the company to compete with its competitors. Hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nitishaba Jadeja

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You described the course, explained how the company could assist (study leave/professional development policy), and clearly linked the course benefits to your job performance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the duration or the exact nature of the 'graphics designing' tasks you perform, which would further develop your ideas and demonstrate a more professional engagement with the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. Each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the prompt, which aids readability. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'As mentioned' to link your ideas. However, the transition between the first and second paragraph could be smoother. Additionally, the sentence 'It will help me in polishing my skills of presentation, also, I will get the opportunity...' is a comma splice; using a semicolon or a conjunction would improve the flow and cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, such as 'accelerated program', 'integrating', and 'professional development'. There are minor issues with word choice, such as 'share about' (which should be 'inform you about' or 'discuss') and 'avail study leaves' (which is slightly unnatural; 'request study leave' or 'take advantage of study leave' would be better). Despite these minor inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and professionally throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are clear and grammatically sound. There are a few minor errors, such as 'graphics designing' (usually 'graphic design') and the previously mentioned comma splice. Your use of punctuation is generally good, though the structure of the final paragraph could be tightened to avoid run-on sentences. The grammar does not impede communication, and you show a good command of formal English sentence construction.
