Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Mr sharma

Hope this letter finds you well,I am writing to request your confirmation to attend a workshop which benefits both my career and the company

To begin, first and foremost ,I have seen an advertisement for this training in a daily newspaper which is called "sales marketing",this course is being held by the Sattari company Which is located in Toronto ,I find it convenient and comfortable for me because it is going to be held online ,this is a 7 -day course and it will start on November 25th and the duration is 2 hours .

I would be grateful if the company supported me in taking this opportunity, since the course fees are extremely high ,it would be an aid for me if the organization paid 50 percent of the fees ,moreover, I need an hour off for those 2 hours .

From my perspective, this training is essential for me and my company,in more detail, it's not cause to increase sell more products, it helps to export products to the other countries all over the world .as a result,we can touch with a number of customers and able to get more profit.

I look forward to hearing from you ,

Best Regards ,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the course, requesting company support, and explaining the benefits. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the course is for 'sales marketing,' you could have provided more specific details about the curriculum to make the request more persuasive. Additionally, the explanation of how the company can help is clear, but the justification for the benefits to the company is slightly repetitive and could be more professionally articulated to demonstrate a stronger business case.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing for each requirement. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin,' 'moreover,' and 'as a result.' However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or forced. There are also issues with punctuation, specifically the use of commas instead of full stops between independent clauses (e.g., 'Hope this letter finds you well,I am writing...'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring correct sentence boundary punctuation would help the flow of the text significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advertisement,' 'duration,' and 'opportunity.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'it's not cause to increase sell more products' and 'we can touch with a number of customers.' These errors slightly hinder the precision of your message. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural business collocations and ensuring that your word choices are grammatically integrated into the sentences.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar, particularly with comma splices and capitalization (e.g., 'Mr sharma', 'Sattari company'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'it would be an aid for me if the organization paid 50 percent of the fees.' While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your request, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence boundary control will improve your score.
