Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the course, requesting assistance, and explaining the benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the course duration and fees, the explanation of how the company could help is vague—you state you cannot extend work hours, but you do not explicitly ask for financial support or time off, which is usually expected in this task. Additionally, the final point regarding the benefits is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on how the specific skills gained will directly contribute to your current projects or the company's goals.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the purpose of the letter to the course details and finally the request. However, the paragraphing is underdeveloped; the entire body of the letter is essentially one block of text, which hinders readability. While you use some cohesive devices like 'The course duration is' and 'This course will', the transitions between sentences feel somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to this') would improve the flow and help connect your ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using industry-relevant terms like 'Regulatory Affairs', 'Data Integrity', and 'theoretical and practical sessions'. However, there are some inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'recent updations' (the correct term is 'updates') and 'I checked further on the website'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive sentence structures when introducing new information.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'I, Vanessa working in Regulatory Affairs division' is a sentence fragment missing a verb. There are also issues with articles ('in newspaper' should be 'in a newspaper') and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to the use of articles and prepositions.
