Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is insufficient. You mention the course and its benefits, but the explanation of how the company could help is vague. Furthermore, the letter is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. To improve, you should expand on the specific support you need from your manager (e.g., financial assistance or time off) and provide more detail about the course content. The tone is also slightly informal for a professional request to a manager.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks a clear paragraph structure. It is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. While there is a basic attempt to connect ideas using words like 'so' and 'and', the flow is repetitive and lacks sophisticated cohesive devices. To improve, you should use separate paragraphs for each bullet point and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to this') to guide the reader through your request more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic words like 'good', 'help', and 'thing' multiple times. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'exepereince', 'additonal', 'cordination', and 'traning', which distract the reader. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise, professional vocabulary related to business and training, and ensure your spelling is accurate. Avoid using informal fillers like 'Hi' in a formal letter to a manager.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar contains frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'I have gave my name' (should be 'I have given'), 'I have join' (should be 'I have joined'), and 'what how team work affect' (should be 'how teamwork affects'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited use of complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage (especially present perfect), and varying your sentence structure to include more complex clauses.
