Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for a letter to a manager requesting approval for a training course. Instead, the student has written a letter to a hotel manager regarding lost property. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement. Because the response fails to address the task instructions entirely and does not meet the length requirement, it receives a low score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The letter lacks a logical structure. The paragraphs are poorly defined, and the text ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence ('where i'). There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the progression of the narrative is disjointed. The failure to complete the letter significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. There are numerous spelling errors such as 'bussiness', 'prepartion', 'presention', and 'litttle'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the word choice is often inaccurate or inappropriate for a formal letter, even if the topic had been correct.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is weak, with frequent errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'I am princy kakadiya writing thi s letter', 'I hope you will not disturb by helping me', and 'I was in hurry'. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. The text contains many fragments and run-on sentences, demonstrating a very limited range of grammatical structures.
