Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is significantly under-length at 113 words and ends abruptly mid-sentence. While you have addressed the three bullet points—describing the course, explaining the need for financial support, and stating the benefits—the ideas are underdeveloped due to the brevity. To improve, you must expand on the specific details of the course and provide a more thorough explanation of how the skills gained will directly benefit your current role. The abrupt ending also prevents a proper conclusion, which is necessary for a formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter follows a basic logical structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a clear purpose. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition 'Therefore I would like to gather' is functional but basic. The paragraphing is also incomplete because the text cuts off before the final section can be fully developed. To improve, ensure you use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, and always ensure your letter reaches a natural and complete conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You use some appropriate terms like 'paramount' and 'occupation', but there are noticeable errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'I have a enthusiastic to obtain' (should be 'I am enthusiastic about obtaining') and 'provide a finance' (should be 'provide financial support'). To improve, focus on learning correct collocations and word forms. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more professional, business-appropriate vocabulary to suit the context of a letter to a manager.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'a global standard training that conduct by' (should be 'conducted by') and 'Wich is renown' (should be 'Which is renowned'). There is a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. The sentence fragments and incomplete final sentence further detract from the grammatical control. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct relative pronoun usage, and ensuring that all sentences are complete and punctuated correctly.
