Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am working as a doctor for your company 'Server Pharma' for two years. Recently I saw an advertisement in The Daily Star newspaper about the Basic Life Support training. Which involves how to save life at the emergency situations like accident or drowning.
The company may support me financially as well as by giving leave for few days. It would surely benefit me and the company in the long run. Because the cost of the training is very high but effective so company could provide me with a loan.
As we deal with a huge quantity of worker for their safety issues, I think it would be very wise decision for me to take part in this training. This course will teach me how to deal with emergency situations like fall from height and accidents. In return the company will be benefitted from my services.
I hope that you would be kind enough to give me the opportunity to take part in this training course.
Yours Faithfully,
Forhadur Rahman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You described the Basic Life Support training, explained how the company could assist (financially and through leave), and clearly articulated the professional benefits. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of why the company should provide a loan is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more specific detail regarding the mutual benefits for both the employee and the employer.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on one of the required points, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In return' and 'As we deal with', though the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. The use of 'Because' at the start of a sentence in the second paragraph is grammatically informal and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences connect more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financially', 'emergency situations', and 'opportunity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'huge quantity of worker' is incorrect; 'large number of employees' would be more natural. Additionally, 'very high but effective' is a slightly awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive or overly simple descriptors. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific professional terminology would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For instance, 'I am working... for two years' should be 'I have been working... for two years' (present perfect continuous). There are also sentence fragments, such as 'Which involves how to save life...', which should be connected to the previous sentence. Punctuation is generally clear, but the misuse of sentence fragments and tense inconsistencies occasionally impacts the clarity of your message. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proper sentence construction will help improve your score.
