Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, requesting company support, and explaining the benefits. Your tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the course will help with 'promotions' and 'overseas companies', these points could be expanded with more specific detail about the course content or the nature of the language skills involved. The structure is clear, and the purpose of the letter is immediately apparent to the reader, which satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Along with that' and 'So' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. There are some issues with punctuation, such as the lack of capitalization for the pronoun 'i' and the inconsistent use of commas, which occasionally disrupts the flow of reading. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your paragraph structure is more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'beneficial', 'immensely', and 'lucrative'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'immensely lucrative' is slightly unnatural in this context, and 'for learnings' is grammatically incorrect. You also repeat the phrase 'personal growth' twice in close proximity. While your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your needs clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. Focusing on collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that are noticeable throughout the text. Common issues include the failure to capitalize the first-person pronoun 'i', subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'this company has many position'), and awkward phrasing in conditional sentences (e.g., 'if i would be able to'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing. Increasing your focus on basic grammatical rules and proofreading for small errors will be beneficial.
