Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the course is described as a first aid course, the request for sponsorship is made, and the relevance to your role as a security person is explained. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. The explanation of why the course is useful is repetitive, and the tone is somewhat informal for a formal request to a manager. To improve, you should provide more specific details about the course, such as its duration or the skills covered, and present your request in a more professional, persuasive manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter is organized into short paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly; for example, the transition between mentioning the advertisement and your financial situation is abrupt. The use of punctuation is inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'company.I', 'course but'). Improving the use of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'therefore' would help create a more logical progression of ideas and improve the overall readability of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple phrases like 'really helpful' and 'good price'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited and does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. There are also spelling errors such as 'whcih', 'finacial', and 'sponser'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise professional terminology related to training and business requests, and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('I wanted to do' instead of 'I would like to do'), missing articles, and capitalization errors (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). Punctuation is a significant weakness, with several instances of missing spaces after full stops and incorrect comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and standard punctuation rules to ensure your writing is grammatically accurate.
