Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my interest towards a software quality assurance training course, which I have seen in an advertisement.
The software quality assurance program is a most effective, teaching how to use advanced technology to eradicate rigorous tasks in the system and enhance the quality of software; however, the automatic problem deductive feature entice me a lot to improve outcomes promptly. The worth of this course cannot be neglected; therefore, I am really eager to enroll in it.
I would be grateful of the organization if they could give me a chance to carry out the wonderful course while working with them, which is solely possible either they could book a seat for me or refer me to another branch where this training is the foundation to embark on further work.
I believe this course would be excessively useful for my profession because it provides the profound knowledge about how to use modern software appropriately, which would improve the way of working in a fast-paced environment without any hurdle. This would not only increase the productive but also effects the productivity of employees.
I sincerely hope you will consider my request. I would greatly appreciate your support and would be happy to discuss this matter at your convenience.
Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You describe the software quality assurance course, explain how the company can assist (booking a seat or referring to a branch), and outline the benefits to your job. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, some ideas are slightly underdeveloped or expressed with confusing phrasing, such as the description of the course's features. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are clear and directly linked to the professional context, avoiding overly complex or vague descriptions of the course content.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'however', 'therefore', and 'not only... but also'. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, particularly in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different requirements of the task. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices more naturally to connect your sentences, ensuring that the flow between ideas remains smooth and logical throughout the entire response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, including terms like 'profound knowledge', 'fast-paced environment', and 'at your convenience'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'eradicate rigorous tasks' and 'automatic problem deductive feature', which make the meaning slightly unclear. Additionally, 'increase the productive' is grammatically incorrect (should be 'productivity'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated language, the lack of precision in some areas limits your score. Focus on using words in their correct collocations to enhance clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive feature. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies that occasionally impede the flow of reading. For example, 'I would be grateful of the organization' should be 'grateful to the organization', and 'either they could book' is an incomplete structure. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'effects the productivity' (should be 'affects'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main point, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
