Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the course, requesting company assistance, and explaining the professional benefits. However, the tone is inconsistent; while the prompt asks for a letter to a manager, you addressed it to 'Dear John' and used an informal tone, which is slightly inappropriate for a formal business request. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation of the course content is somewhat repetitive and lacks specific detail, which limits the development of your ideas. To improve, ensure your tone remains professional throughout and provide more precise details about the training program.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Finally' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition 'Apart from this, I like to join that course' feels abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack clear logical connections, such as the final paragraph where multiple ideas are crowded into one long sentence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your needs clearly. You use some relevant business-related terms like 'beneficial', 'advantageous', and 'flexibility'. However, there are several spelling errors ('clints' for clients, 'stope' for stop, 'form' for from) and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'utilize computer in advance' instead of 'advanced computer skills'. The repetition of 'advertisement' and 'skills' suggests a limited range. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure your spelling is accurate, as these errors occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an attempt to use complex sentence structures, but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('training will going take place'), incorrect verb forms ('it assist to increase'), and missing articles. There are also punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in 'I hope to hear form you soon.' While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors requires the reader to work harder to interpret your message. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for verb tense consistency would significantly improve your accuracy.
