Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You described the 'Teamwork Skills' course, explained the support required from the company (fee payment and time off), and clearly articulated how the skills gained will benefit your job performance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager, and the purpose is clear from the outset. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands exactly what you are requesting and why. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the course content or the specific projects you intend to apply these skills to, which would further demonstrate the value of the training.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each requirement, and a polite closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'I believe', 'The course would', and 'I would be grateful' to link your ideas. While the structure is sound, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words or transition phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') to connect your sentences more fluidly. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'effectively', 'advertised', 'cooperate', and 'beneficial'. The language is natural and appropriate for a professional context. However, there are a few minor errors, such as 'helpful members for my team' (should be 'member of') and the incorrect sign-off 'Your faithfully' (should be 'Yours faithfully'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations or slightly more sophisticated vocabulary to demonstrate a wider range. Currently, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly without any significant strain on the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am writing to express my interest in...' and 'I believe the company would also benefit from this course because I could use my new skills at work.' While your meaning is always clear, there are some persistent grammatical slips, such as the lowercase 'i' in several instances and the incorrect sign-off. Additionally, 'helpful members' should be singular. Despite these errors, the majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control of grammar is generally good. Focusing on proofreading for minor slips and ensuring consistent capitalization will help improve your score.
