Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You described the course, explained how the company could assist, and detailed the benefits for your role. However, the task asks you to write to your manager, but you addressed the letter to 'Sir or Madam' and wrote as if inquiring about a course you saw in an advertisement, rather than requesting approval or support for a specific training opportunity. The tone is slightly inconsistent with a formal request to a manager, as you are asking for information that you should ideally already have or be seeking from a provider, not your boss. To improve, ensure the purpose of the letter aligns more closely with the professional relationship implied by the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'not only... but also' and 'Last but not least', which help the flow of ideas. However, the paragraphing is a bit fragmented, and the transition between the introduction and the body could be smoother. The list format used for the requested information is acceptable for a business letter, but ensure that the surrounding text provides enough context to link these points back to your main request. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financial analyst', 'data analysis', and 'visualizations'. There are some minor word-choice errors, such as 'atomizing' instead of 'automating' and 'one of your advertisement' instead of 'one of your advertisements'. Additionally, 'great in demand' should be 'in great demand'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more professional, formal business expressions would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I currently work as in financial analyst' (should be 'as a financial analyst') and 'I am looking forward for the below information' (should be 'looking forward to'). The use of articles and prepositions is occasionally inaccurate. While your meaning is always clear, the frequency of these small errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage after common phrases.
