Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the task achievement. Because the letter is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, you have failed to address all parts of the prompt. Specifically, you did not explain what the company could do to help you, nor did you fully develop the benefits of the course for your job. To improve, you must ensure you cover all three bullet points in the prompt and provide sufficient detail to meet the length requirement. The current response is too brief to demonstrate the ability to develop ideas adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the text is incomplete, which makes it difficult to assess the overall logical flow. You used a simple cohesive device ('To begin with') to start your second paragraph, which is a positive step. However, because the text ends abruptly, there is no progression or conclusion. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on one of the bullet points from the prompt and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more smoothly throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is functional but limited. You used some relevant terms like 'accountancy management' and 'promotion', but there are errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'detaisl' and 'medical field' (which should be 'the medical field'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. To improve, try to incorporate more precise professional terminology and ensure you proofread for spelling errors. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and verbs will help you convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'help me getting promotion' should be 'help me get a promotion' or 'help me to get a promotion'. Additionally, there is a punctuation error with the comma usage in 'Also , it will...'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the incomplete nature of the text prevents the use of a wider range of complex structures. To improve, focus on correct verb patterns and ensure your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
