Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the course, explaining how the company can help, and detailing the relevance to your job. However, the tone is slightly inconsistent. The prompt asks you to write to your manager, but you address the letter to 'Sir or Madam' and ask the recipient for the course fee and schedule, as if you are writing to an external training provider rather than your own manager. To improve, ensure the content reflects a professional request to an employer, such as asking for financial support or time off, rather than inquiring about course details from a third party.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use basic linking words like 'also' and 'so' to connect ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') to improve the flow between your sentences and paragraphs. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your needs, such as 'inventory supervisor', 'retail stores', and 'presentations'. There are some minor errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'computer basic and advance' (should be 'basic and advanced computer skills') and 'make invoice' (should be 'prepare invoices'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more professional business terminology would enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I work with WIS international as inventory supervisor' (missing articles: 'an inventory supervisor'), 'my company going to offer me' (missing auxiliary verb: 'is going to'), and 'if possible can you also recorded session' (should be 'could you also record the sessions'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
